Community Growth

Good Food in Schools, Good Food in your Neighbourhood

In 2011, the Good Food Box began providing workshops in Ottawa schools and communities to increase awareness of the importance of food skills and access to fresh fruits and vegetables.   Kids get an opportunity to make healthy food, do a food related activity, and learn simple nutrition.  We have several pick up sites in schools. We’re happy to bring the Good Food Box to your school.

In 2011, the Ottawa Good Food Box was presented with a “Let’s Keep Kids out of Hospitals” award from CHEO for its Good Food in the Schools project.

Cooking out of the Good Food Box

A yearly workshop for newcomers to introduce them to produce found in the boxes, and ways to prepare them.

It’s handy to grab it before or after my other appointments at the clinic, and saves me from booking a separate trip with Para Transpo to make it to the grocery store. It helps me save money, and avoid the crowded produce aisle at the grocery store, which can be hard to navigate with my walker - Customer.
